
Leota H. Alexander
1941-2024
Biography
Leota H. Alexander was an experienced, board certified family law attorney. Leota was a widely published author and frequent lecturer. She was Board Certified in Family Law by the State Bar of Texas since 1980 and practice since 1970. She was recognized both as a Texas Super Lawyer and one of the top 50 Female Texas Super Lawyers by Texas Monthly. She was a founding director of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas and a founding member of the Dallas Alliance of Collaborative Professionals.
She was a member of many professional associations including the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Leota received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics with honors from the University of Wyoming in 1964 where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She received her law degree with high honors from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1970 where she was a charter member of that law school. She taught family law and marital property as an adjunct professor both at the Texas Tech Law School and Texas Wesleyan Law School.
